Maria + Lucas, a Wedding at Evergreen Country Club in Virginia

Maria and Lucas celebrated their wedding on a beautiful, sunny October day at the Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, Virginia.

When Kelsey and I first arrived on Maria and Lucas’s wedding day, Lucas came rushing to meet us first to share some exciting news: he had a BIG surprise planned for Maria that he didn’t want anyone to know about. He filled us in on the details and asked us to keep an eye out for the surprise during portraits after the ceremony. We were SO excited to see Maria’s reaction!! But first, it was wedding dress time J Maria was so incredibly calm as she prepared for her day; she was joking and relaxing with her bridal party (in their adorable matching plaid shirts!) before it was time to put on her wedding dress, and then we headed outside for Maria’s first look with Lucas!

We were so, so lucky to have such incredible beautiful light and a perfect temperature; this was a rainy fall, so it was so nice to have such a beautiful day for Maria and Lucas’s wedding! And these two had such incredible light for their portraits. Plus, Maria and Lucas were such naturals in front of the camera – just wait until you see their gorgeous portraits!! We took two golf carts out into the golf course at Evergreen Country Club for their portraits (just wait for the bloopers reel blog post in a few weeks… seeing the four of us and Maria and Lucas’s wedding party in golf carts was hilarious!). After Maria and Lucas’s portraits and portraits with their wedding party, it was time for their wedding ceremony. These two were all smiles throughout their ceremony –which was so sweet!

And then after the ceremony, it was time for Lucas’s surprise!! During some final sunset portraits, I spotted the surprise coming our way… and then Maria saw her big surprise! It was the Virginia Tech HokieBird, the mascot at Maria’s alma mater! Maria was SO excited!! Lucas did such a great job surprising her :) Maria and Lucas took some portraits with the HokieBird, and then everyone headed to the fun reception for lots of dancing and celebrating!

Maria and Lucas’s wedding was such a beautiful day, and it is clear that these two had an incredible time. They were both so incredibly calm and happy all day :) Maria and Lucas, Kelsey and I absolutely loved celebrating your wedding day with you two. You are such a sweet couple!! Congratulations!!

Random fact – the makeup artist AND one of the wedding planners were both named Brooke also! I rarely meet other people named Brooke, much less work with two others named Brooke! Maria joked that they made sure to only hire people named Brooke for their wedding :)
