I am SO excited to share Karen and Tim’s beautiful wedding today!! Karen and Tim married at Grace Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia on August 18, 2018, and celebrated alongside their wonderful family and friends at the gorgeous Springfield Golf and Country Club that evening with a fantastic wedding reception. Karen and Tim have such a beautiful long story that started with a friendship.
Karen and Tim met when Karen was just 14 years old through family friends. When they were younger, these two were in a Rondalla group together with Tim’s father as the instructor. While they grew up as friends, Karen and Tim were just friends and did not start dating until Karen was college. In fact, even before they started dating, Tim told Karen that he wanted to marry her! In his speech, Karen’s father talked about how Tim came to Karen’s parents to ask their permission to date Karen. So sweet!
Karen began the day getting ready at a nearby hotel with her bridal party and family, while Tim got ready with his groomsmen at his parents’ house. After, everyone headed to the church, where Karen and Tim shared a beautiful first look outside of the church before heading inside. It was so sweet, emotional, and tearful. Then, everyone headed inside, where Karen and Tim had a beautiful ceremony. Their Godparents were an important part of their ceremony for the veil, cord, and coin ceremony, and Karen and Tim ended the ceremony with the sweetest vows. In her vows, Karen said, “This wasn’t love at first sight. It was the collective simple moments here and there like grabbing coffee… and watching Smallville.” I just love their story together!! Tim finished his vows by saying, “I can’t wait to begin our life together.” These were such sweet, honest, and genuine vows, and their ceremony was so touching. After these two said “I do!” it was time to head to Springfield Golf and Country Club! Once we arrived there, we explored the golf course with Karen, Tim, and their wedding party. Just wait until you see these portraits!! I am absolutely in love with Karen and Tim’s gorgeous pictures; not only was it a picture day, but these two had so much fun taking pictures – and it shows in their gorgeous portraits! Plus, Karen’s veil made for such stunning portraits; the veil was her something borrowed, and it was her matron of honor, Jewelle’s, sister’s veil – and it was so, so pretty!
Karen’s bridesmaids wore the most stunning navy blue gowns, and the groomsmen wore sharp gray suits. Her bridal party was SO sweet and so helpful too! Her bridesmaids were so quick to help me carry Karen’s gorgeous gown downstairs at the hotel where everyone was getting ready, and during the reception, Jewelle – who is also a wedding planner – helped us with table pictures. And the groomsmen were so kind, easy-going, and funny. This was just the sweetest group! And EVERYONE at Karen and Tim’s wedding was so kind; their guests were SO happy to celebrate with Karen and Tim and it seemed like everyone was smiling all day. Everyone kept coming up and talking to us (which is always so sweet!) and Karen and Tim’s guests even offered us sandwiches and water for the drive from their ceremony to their reception. I honestly can’t describe how nice everyone was! Kelsey and I felt like we were family too (and this group was SO kind – we want to go to more events with everyone here!).
It was truly a joy getting to know Karen and Tim’s family, friends, and their wonderful wedding party – and it has been such a blessing to become friends with Karen and Tim. Just like their family and friends, these are two of the kindest people. They are so thoughtful of each other and others, and they are also hilarious! Karen and Tim kept each other laughing (and me and Kelsey!) during portraits. I have so many sweet laughing moments between these two; it was really tough to narrow down some favorites for their blog post!
Not only was this such a loving, joyful day, but Karen and Tim made sure that their wedding was an incredible event for their guests – and it was filled with fantastic surprises! After dinner, Karen, Tim, Tim’s father, and the entire band reunited for such a fun surprise performance (and encore!) for their guests. This was such a sweet moment to see everyone performing together – the smiles they all shared after each song were so special! But the surprises didn’t stop there! Tim and some of their friends surprised Karen with a flash mob!! It was AWESOME! Afterward, Karen and Tim performed a beautiful, choregraphed dance – only to be interrupted by a second even bigger flash mob performance! It was AMAZING!! I cannot even imagine the logistics of teaching that many people a dance – and it was spectacular (Tim is a great dancer!). What a fun moment – we couldn’t stop talking about it, and I am sure Karen and Tim’s guests felt the same way! After the awesome performances, the dance floor opened up – and this was a dancing group! What a fun night!! As the night wound down, everyone headed outside to gather sparklers – and Karen and Tim ran through the sparklers as they said goodbye to their family and friends. It was an incredible wedding and such a fun day for everyone – and the best part was that Karen and Tim got married!
Karen and Tim, it has been an incredible honor to get to know you both and to celebrate with you two, and we are grateful to have you two as friends now. Kelsey and I loved being part of your wedding, and I have LOVED reliving it through your beautiful pictures too!! You two are such a sweet couple; we are so happy for you both!! Enjoy some highlights from your beautiful wedding day!!
