Karen and Scott were married on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia.
Karen and Scott both got ready at Lansdowne Resort with their wedding parties in beautiful suites overlooking their ceremony site (it was wonderful! They had so much getting ready space!). Afterward, Scott and his groomsmen went outside for portraits, and when they were finished, Karen and her bridal party went outside for pictures, too! And then it was ceremony time – almost! While Karen and Scott wanted to wait to see each other for the first time as she walked down the aisle, before the ceremony, they took a few minutes to speak with one another and pray together – all while holding hands on either side of a wall so they could not see each other. It was such a special moment and so sweet to share that together before the ceremony. And then it was ceremony time!
Karen and Scott’s wedding ceremony was on the patio outside of Lansdowne Resort. Framed by rows of trees adorned with sparkling lights, Karen and Scott shared their vows before family and friends. It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony – both in what was said and how truly beautiful it was. Karen and Scott even had a special cross to share their vows under. And then, they were pronounced husband and wife!
After the ceremony, Karen and Scott’s wonderful wedding party gathered for photos. These two have a huge wedding party, but they were so cooperative and sweet. They were a fun group to photograph – and the pictures are beautiful! (I love the one of everyone cheering on the steps!). Kelsey and I had scoped out photo spots earlier in the day, but after the ceremony, we were greeted with a bit of a surprise – hundreds of teens in formalwear had arrived at Lansdowne for a Homecoming dance, and some of our photo spots had been taken over. Thankfully we were able to dodge around the crowds (and hold up traffic briefly on the steps!) for some gorgeous pictures – and you would never guess by looking at the photos! We even found a pretty little garden walkway that was STUNNING for Karen and Scott’s photos! And the glittering lights from their wedding ceremony made for a spectacular backdrop for pictures. (SO pretty!!). Plus, Karen and Scott are so photogenic; these two are constantly making each other laugh and smile, and they are such a beautiful pair. I had so many favorites; it was tough to narrow it down for their blog post!
After portraits, it was time for Karen and Scott’s wedding reception! Lansdowne Resort is beautiful, and the reception space is so pretty. Karen and Scott’s wedding colors of maroon, white, and gold perfectly accented the space. After these two shared a first dance and Karen’s sister and Scott’s best man gave sweet (and hilarious!) speeches, Karen and Scott shared a dance with their parents – and then with each other’s parents, too! It was so special and such a nice gesture showing that they are all family now :)
Karen and Scott had fun bottles of Martinelli’s at each seat for guests (such a cute favor idea!!) and their awesome DJ passed out shots of Fireball for everyone to toast with when he played “Fireball,” but the true highlight of the night were the life-sized cutouts of Karen and Scott!! I don’t know how these two pulled it off, but they had life-size cutouts made of themselves in their wedding attire – and guests had SO much fun with these! There was a Karen and Scott cutout conga line, one guest shared a shot with Karen’s cutout, the Karen and Scott cutouts went crowd surfing (a lot! haha!), and the Karen and Scott cutouts danced just about as much as the bride and groom did – which was all night! It was such a fun idea, and guests had such a good time taking selfies with the cutouts and bringing them to the dance floor!
Later in the evening, guests were treated to a dessert table with macarons, pecan pies, and chocolate covered strawberries, and at the end of the night, Karen and Scott celebrated the end of their wedding night by running through a fun sparkler exit!!
After their wedding, Karen and Scott headed to Africa for an INCREDIBLE honeymoon! Karen and Scott, I hope you two loved your amazing trip together, and I hope you are loving married life so much!! We are so happy for you two and we absolutely loved celebrating with you two!! You two are such a wonderful couple, and your wedding day was absolutely perfect!!
Congratulations, Karen and Scott!! Enjoy some favorites from your beautiful wedding day!
