Today I am sharing some behind the scenes photos from weddings over the last year – and they just make me so happy! I love photographing weddings SO much; even though the days are exhausting, it is so fun photographing these moments of love, happiness, and joy, and being there while family and friends celebrate. I LOVE the friendships I form with my couples – I am SO lucky to have worked with the BEST couples ever over these last almost four years that I have been photographing weddings!! I am also SO THANKFUL for my awesome second shooters – Kelsey, Justin, Valerie, Rachel, Robert, and Kate!! These people are truly the best and I am so lucky to work with them during the weddings I photograph! I wish I had more behind the scenes photos – one of my goals for 2016 is to catalog these as I find them :)
Kelsey second shot most of my weddings with my this year, and it is so incredible to work with my sister on these fun, exhausting, love-filled wedding days! She is just as enthusiastic as I am, she loves my couples and enjoys getting to know them like I do, and she is SO GOOD at keeping the day running, helping me stick to my timeline, creating the family portrait groupings, tossing veils, fluffing dresses, looking at the “small details” while I focus on the big picture, and making everyone laugh throughout the day. Plus, she is awesome at carrying “stuff” all day and making sure I don’t leave lenses and flashes scattered about throughout the day! My husband also began his videography business this year – Last Avalon Films – and he second shot a number of weddings with me too! I am so thankful to work with family!!
We (my second shooters and I) shoot SO many pictures during an eight hour wedding day – and occasionally we end up in each other’s photos – although often it is a photo of one of us dashing out of the other person’s photo!
This past year has been so much fun and I can’t begin to express how grateful I am for all of the people who have been part of it. Enjoy some of the behind the scenes photos from 2015 that made me smile :)
Kelsey knows how to pose!
Ready to start the day :) Dunkin Donuts, lint roller, and more cameras, lenses, batteries, flashes, chargers, backup cameras, backup flashes, etc. than we could ever need!
Kate (who just got married this month – yay Kate!!) made a run for it here – but a second too late! haha! Don’t worry – Amanda and Jared got some AWESOME dip photos with these pretty yellow trees at Oakland Manor!
Julia wanted a photo with the pigs – and the pigs REALLY wanted to give her bouquet a taste!
Kelsey is great at veil tosses!
And so is Valerie!
And so is Robert!
And so is my husband! HAHAHA!
I am so sorry, Justin… This photo from Mandi and Dave’s wedding totally cracks me up!! Justin is really into the veil toss!
But sometimes this happens…
Don’t worry – she caught it! (This happened to my veil too! haha).
Occassionally we grab a bite to eat too! I’m testing my lighting while Kelsey has a cracker – haha!
Sometimes the bride needs to borrow our coats (Amy totally pulls off the purple coat look!). And Clarke so sweetly carried her dress train all day :)
We carry a LOT of stuff during the day. I wish I had more photos of this – I am only carrying one bag here – Kelsey is normally carrying at least three plus a few light stands and modifiers! (I finally switched to Toms about halfway through this year – and my feet thank me so much!).
Kelsey before the ceremony!
A stranger walking through Stephanie and Darling’s portraits? Nope – just my husband videoing the wedding!
Oh hey! (Yup – that’s me – Kelsey and I look a lot alike! haha).
Making my husband stand in as a lighting tester
Kelsey being the lighting model – with a true model face!
Fireside chats with Dr. Kelsey (she actually is a doctor!). Thanks for testing this lighting, Kelsey!
Kelsey the light model!
Kelsey gets stuck holding a flash when we don’t feel like dragging a light stand out! (This was Alyssa and Zach’s New Year’s Eve wedding – it was pretty chilly out!). Her faces here crack me up!
Kate made fast friends with Amanda and Jared’s daughter, Brooke, and Amanda’s brother!
Kelsey waiting while I was setting up my lighting – and then her favorite song came on! haha! Wish I had my lighting ready but luckily I still got a shot! (Secret fact – Kelsey dances at every single wedding – while shooting!! This girl is an awesome dancer! Me… not so much!).
Kelsey offered to hold Julia’s wedding cake while I took photos of her and Eric – and then some friends of theirs wanted to stop and say goodbye to them so Kelsey ended up holding their cake for a few minutes – and practicing her dip after I told her I was going to have Eric dip Julia in this spot!!
Justin and I don’t get too many photos together – thanks for capturing this photo bomb of us, Valerie!! I was Valerie’s light model and Justin came running outside! haha (Also, how awesome is Valerie’s lighting?!).
Kelsey is REALLY good at making sure wedding dresses look perfect for photos! I focus on composition and she makes sure the details are perfect! I love working with her!! (Also, how awesome are Michelle and Will? These two are such models!!)
Apparently I tip toe during wedding ceremonies…
Kelsey’s sock bun was on point at Michelle and Will’s wedding!!
Everyone that walked by our lighting set up in DC was already staring, so Kelsey decided to run with it!
Justin doing his videography thing at Chris and Jenn’s wedding!
Not a wedding, but behind the scenes – Heidi the cat loves to curl up in my Kelly Moore camera bag when it is unpacked! :)
Valerie seriously never looks bad in a photo! (Plus she is SO wonderful to work with!).
Seriously!
Before every cake cutting, expect to have me jump in and ask the couple for a picture smiling next to the cake. Sarah and Thomas were good sports! (Oh and check out that photo bombing Justin in the mirror!! haha).
It’s Lauren and Sarah!! I’ve known Lauren and Sarah for years, and they also performed at my wedding with Catherine! It was such a fun surprise to find them at Sarah and Thomas’s wedding!
Eric busting out a dance move before I marched in (literally, it appears!) and gave directions for the next photo!
We found a cat at Rockland’s Farm!
Valerie shot this of Justin and I racing around shooting details before the bride and groom arrived!
Sorry for jumping into your photo, Kelsey!
Shooting Jackie and Zack’s cherry blossom engagement session in Washington, DC!
Oh hey dream team! (This was the moment when Kelsey and I realized we had the exact same shirt and pants on – just in different colors! haha).
I’m so lucky to work with my sister! :) Thank you for making this past year even more fun!
I love looking back at some of our behind the scenes moments from the past year!! I can’t wait to see what next year brings with all of our awesome 2016 couples!!
