Brittany + Dan – a Rustic Forest Hill, Maryland Engagement Session

I am SO excited to share Brittany and Dan’s GORGEOUS sunrise engagement session from last Saturday!  This session was like a dream come true with the beautiful vintage couch these two rented from White Glove Rentals, the amazing farm backdrop, Brittany’s STUNNING gold sequin gown from Rent the Runway and her adorable tulle skirt, and most of all, this sweet and beautiful couple!

Brittany and Dan have been together for nearly three years, and these two have the cutest proposal story. Dan proposed by putting Brittany’s engagement ring on their kitten, Peanut’s, collar!  I love that so much!!  Of course, Brittany said yes, and these two began planning their 2016 wedding.

We chatted about a few engagement session locations, but then Brittany suggested her parents’ backyard in lovely Forest Hill, Maryland, just outside of Bel Air, – and I am SO glad they chose this beautiful spot!  It is so wonderful to have pictures somewhere so meaningful, and this the place where Brittany grew up and where her parents live now.  Brittany’s mom even jogged past us when we were photographing down the road!  It was so fun for my sister, Kelsey, and I to get to know not only Brittany and Dan during their engagement session, but to meet Brittany’s family and see this place that is so important to all of them (and such a beautiful backdrop too!).

Brittany had originally really wanted a snowy engagement session, so we planned on that – setting the date for January 23.  That week, though, Brittany emailed me and said that Dan saw that snow was predicted for that weekend – but much more than anyone in Maryland could have expected.  That ended up being a HUGE storm with over two feet of snow (so it was a really good thing we rescheduled!).  Luckily the weekend we rescheduled for in February ended up being unseasonably warm and beautiful!  We were so lucky!  Of course, when we started our session at 7:00 in the morning, it was still pretty chilly (and windy!) – but Brittany and Dan were such good sports about the cold weather!  Brittany and Dan were just so positive, upbeat, and so fun to photograph.  And we were so lucky to find some spots of snow for gorgeous snowy portraits at the end :) Yay!

It was so much fun photographing Brittany and Dan last weekend, and I am so looking forward to their wedding day!  I already know it is going to be absolutely gorgeous; Brittany has so many great ideas!  Enjoy a few favorites from Brittany and Dan’s stunning sunrise engagement session!!
