Leading up to October 3, the entire East Coast was preparing for a coming hurricane, but Amy and Clarke were preparing for their wedding day! As Amy and I chatted in the weeks before her day, she was so incredibly calm, relaxed, and easy-going. I was so impressed that even a coming hurricane didn’t faze Amy, but that is so much who she is – Amy looks at the positive in every situation, and always has such a bright outlook on life. Thankfully, the hurricane ended up just being some off-and-on rain throughout the day and some wind, and Amy, Clarke, and all of their guests didn’t let that stop their fun!
And fun was definitely the theme of this day! Amy and Clarke’s wedding was so personal and unique. Amy and Clarke met at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and then these two celebrated their wedding in the same spot! Amy and Clarke got ready, had their ceremony, and did their portraits on the Georgetown University campus, and then everyone headed to the National Press Club downtown for the reception after. Amy started the day by having her hair and makeup done for her wedding in a classroom on campus – but not just any classroom. This was a classroom that she sat in as a student just a few years before!! Clarke also got ready in a classroom just down the hall! Their ceremony was in the chapel on campus, and after the ceremony, we headed across campus to the Mortara Building where these two met when they were both students at Georgetown! Georgetown University was truly the perfect location for Amy and Clarke’s wedding :)
I loved getting to know these two, and being there as they tied the knot. When Amy and I first spoke on the phone, we were so surprised to discover an unusual connection we both had – with chocolate! Amy is from Eerie, PA, which is the same town my father-in-law grew up in! The first time I met my then-boyfriend’s parents (now my in-laws!), they gifted me sponge candy from Stefanelli’s in Eerie. It turns out that the first time Amy met Clarke’s parents, her own parents sent her sponge candy from Stefanelli’s to give as a gift! At Amy and Clarke’s wedding, they so sweetly gifted me and Kelsey some wonderful Stefanelli’s sponge candy!! It was so thoughtful of them (and such a wonderful late night treat for our drive home!) :) I just loved getting to know Amy and Clarke, plus their family and friends. Enjoy some of my favorites from their beautiful Georgetown University wedding!
Such a sweet moment between mother and daughter!
Looking sharp!!
Amy’s gift to Clarke was so sweet!
Such a good looking bunch!! Kelsey takes the best groomsmen portraits!
Oh Amy!! I just adore this girl so much; she is the most joyful bride! See that smile in the right photo? I asked Amy to look over her shoulder – and unbeknownst to us, her dad was standing inside, watching her with tears of joy. So sweet!
These girls were such a sweet bunch – and aren’t they gorgeous? They are like a walking J. Crew ad!!
Ceremony time – and perfect timing because it had just started to rain!
Look at this well-coordinated family!
Umbrellas can be so fun at a wedding!!
So many favorites!!
Love this!!
This is where Amy and Clarke met!! In grad school, these two both found themselves sitting in the Mortara Building on the Georgetown University Campus during the government furlough. I love that we were able to get a picture of these two on their wedding day in the same spot where they met!!
We all hopped on the shuttle and headed downtown to the Press Club for Amy and Clarke’s reception.
His speech was so sweet :) Kelsey and I just adored Amy’s parents; they reminded us so much of our parents!
The Press Club was so stunning; we had to sneak away for a few minutes for a couple portraits!
Party time!!
This congo line! I think everyone joined in!
Toward the end of the night, we stepped outside for some portraits. It was a little chilly and drizzling, but it was SO worth it!!
This picture!!! I am SO glad we stepped outside for a bit for these portraits!
Congratulations, Amy and Clarke!!
