Last week I was so fortunate to photograph some of the many adoptable cats and dogs at BARCS in Baltimore, Maryland. The unbelieably talented and generous Teri of TPoz Photography asked if I would be interested in photographing shelter pets with her. As a longtime animal rescuer (and obviously a huge animal lover) I was thrilled. TPoz is one of a few wonderful photographers who take pictures of dogs and cats at BARCS for the online profiles on BARCS website and PetFinder. Animals with any photo at all are much more likely to be adopted – and animals with beautiful photos have even better chances. Our animals shelters across the country are overcrowded and we are faced with a major pet overpopulation problem in the United States (which can be solved through spay and neuter). Through donating their time and skills, photographers like TPoz and others, including Meredith Brown Photography, are helping to save lives every week. In addition to photography pups, TPoz is truly an incredible photographer and such a sweet person, so it was a lot of fun to work with her and see her in action (oh – and hear her in action – she knows how to get dogs to look at the camera!). We had a great time and more importantly, we got to take some wonderful photos of shelter dogs and cats – and already two of these dogs have been adopted!
Check out some of the many wonderful animals Teri and I had the opportunity to meet at BARCS last week. Thank you so much to Teri for being so generous with her time and talent for so many years, and thank you so very much to all of the volunteers who helped us out last Friday. We could not have done it without you!
Please visit BARCS to meet these cats and dogs and many more. The shelter is full of many incredible, loving, and affectionate animals that are so eager to find their forever home.
