Cara, my long haired girl, was rescued from a North Carolina shelter in January 2004. She was scheduled to be put to sleep the next day, but thankfully FOR Animals rescued her and I was fortunate enough to meet her a few days after that when I was volunteering. She was about six months old when I adopted her, so she turns nine this summer. Emily, our black and white beauty, came from a Pennsylvania shelter in January 2008 at around six months also. We met her the very same day she had been given up, and brought her home the next day to meet Cara. This summer, Emily celebrates her fifth birthday. They are both beautiful, sweet, wonderful dogs that are so special to us – and best friends. I love how the 4th picture captures Cara’s half blue, half brown eye that is so hard to photograph.
