Hey guys- Kelsey here today! I’m Brooke’s sister and her associate photographer, and normally I’m behind the scenes (and starring in all of Brooke Tyson Photography’s bloopers). Today I had the pleasure of photographing the sweetest girl, Emma, and her family for her Bat Mitzvah. A shout out to the incredible Jennifer Smutek Photography who second shot with me today.
Thirteen year old Emma celebrated her Bat Mitzvah on September 4th at the beautiful Am Kolel Sanctuary. It was such an honor to celebrate with her, and I loved being a part of Emma’s day and getting to know her family and friends. Emma is an extraordinary young woman who has spent the past year preparing for this day. She loves reading and devoted her Bat Mitzvah project to promoting reading and literacy. Emma’s love for reading didn’t end with her service project. Her party theme was reading with all of her favorite books as centerpieces, bookmarks for her guests, and photos with a favorite book. I was so excited that this was her theme because I too love reading! Emma is truly extraordinary, and her family showered her with love (and Swedish fish!) to celebrate her accomplishments on this day.
The day started with quality family time, and I captured some gorgeous shots of Emma and her loved ones. After family portraits, I spent some time getting to know Emma and got some adorable pictures of her seeing her friends for the first time that day. The service was incredibly special and incorporated all of the members of their family, and a variety of musical talent. The love for Emma poured out from every body in the room. After the service, I stole Emma and her Mom, Karen, away for sunset pictures and Emma showed off how much she loves to climb trees! The reception started soon after and the party took off immediately. Emma and her friends spent the night on the dance floor and showed off their impressive hula hooping skills. Emma and her parents were so excited about the Horah, so we got right in the action and joined the celebration. When Emma was lifted into the air her face was priceless! Pure joy! The night finished up with delicious chocolate cake and strawberries, several rounds of karaoke, and hugs all around.
Emma and her parents are so sweet together- they are so proud of her!
Emma’s tutor worked with her for over a year in preparation for her Bat Mitzvah.
Could these two be any cuter?!!!
Emma! You are so adorable!
Congratulations Emma!
