Julia and Eric first emailed me last year when I was on my honeymoon in Maui (which seemed quite serendipitous!), and as soon as we met, I knew they were exactly the kind of couple I love to work with! When we met after Justin and I returned from our trip, we decided to make it a dog date – so we both brought our dogs! How often do you get to have a dog-friendly client meeting? It was meant to be! :)
Julia and Eric are the type of couple that can finish each other’s sentences; they know each other so well, and they are both such sweet people. Julia and Eric lived in separate states while finishing up their degrees, and during that time, Eric began making origami paper squirrels for each day that the two had been dating. When he proposed, he gifted Julia hundreds of paper squirrels – and an engagement ring! The squirrel theme was everywhere in their wedding, and I loved seeing how they incorporated it (seriously – be on the hunt for squirrels in these pictures – these two are so creative!!).
But the creative elements of their wedding didn’t end there. These two made sure their wedding was unique in so many ways – including the dancing! Julia and Eric skipped in for their introduction as husband and wife to “Everything is Awesome” by Tegan and Sarah (you can’t not smile when you hear this song!), Julia’s dance with her dad was to “Hakuna Matata” (so sweet!), and Eric invited all of the moms at the wedding to come out and dance with him! But the crowning glory was Julia and Eric’s first dance; in addition to their great sense of humor, the two share a love of ballroom dancing, and their first dance was INCREDIBLE. These two are extremely talented, and it was amazing to watch their first dance. It was such a fun, energetic evening and a truly beautiful wedding.
Rockland’s Farm in Poolesville, MD is one of my favorite venues; I had the pleasure to photograph Lukasz and Kimberly’s wedding there exactly one year and one day before Julia and Eric’s, and it was such a joy to be back. Rockland’s Farm is such a beautiful place – and truly a perfect wedding venue! I was also SO fortunate to have two incredible second shooters working alongside me: my sister, Kelsey, and Valerie of Valerie Michelle Photography both captured so many beautiful, happy moments throughout the day :)
Julia and Eric’s day was really a magical one; it was so full of love, happiness, and humor. Enjoy just a few of my favorites from Julia and Eric’s beautiful wedding day!
Valerie’s photo of Julia’s gorgeous ring with the wedding bands is incredible!!
Can you tell I just adored Julia’s casually romantic flats and her beautiful wildflower bouquet? Anna of From Seeds to Ceremony at Rockland’s Farm created all of the beautiful bouquets, boutonnieres, and floral arrangements.
Julia and Eric actually made each other’s wedding bands; isn’t that so cool?
