I am so happy to share Katie’s GORGEOUS downtown Ellicott City senior portrait session!! Katie and I met up for portraits in Main Street, Ellicott City on a beautiful warm spring day in May – just a few weeks before Katie graduated! :) Katie went to Centennial High School and now she is a freshman at the University of Delaware – and she spent her very first semester studying abroad! So cool!!
Katie is so, so sweet, and it was so much fun spending the afternoon exploring downtown Elliott City with her! I have known Katie for years! I have been friends with Katie’s mother for eight years, and three years ago, I photographed Katie! Katie has been a dancer for most of her life, and she is so talented; it was so fun to photograph her as a ballerina! You can see those pictures here!
Katie is so kind, talented, and incredibly smart. During her senior year, Katie interned with Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. Katie is so genuinely nice, and it is so fun to be around her. I have LOVED seeing Katie’s amazing adventures during her first semester of college exploring Europe, and I know Katie has many, many great things ahead of her!
This session is also very bittersweet because it was just weeks before the heartbreaking Ellicott City flood of 2018. As Katie and I explored Main Street, we talked about how the town had recovered so incredibly well from the devastating flood of 2016. We were so impressed to see new shops open and opening; we walked up and down Main Street, went across the bridge over the Tiber River, stopped at the Tea on the Tiber (I loved that place so much!), and walked around the shore of the Patapsco River. I was shocked when, just a few weeks later, a friend texted me to tell me to turn on the news; once again, Main Street Ellicott City was suffering from a catastrophic flood. Historic Ellicott City is an incredible place, and I really hope that the flooding challenges can be solved and this historic landmark can be rebuilt. I have so many fond memories of visiting Elliott City throughout my life, and I am hopeful that people can continue to enjoy this beautiful town for many years to come. I am also so thankful that Katie and I were able to do her senior portrait session in such a beautiful space, and it is so nice to have these photos around downtown Elliott City to remember this wonderful place.
Congratulations on graduating, Katie!! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
