I am SO excited to share Sam and Mike’s beautiful wedding! It was such an honor to celebrate with these two! Sam and Mike were married on Saturday, June 2 at the Frederick Douglass – Isaac Myers Maritime Museum and celebrated with family, friends, and their pup, Natty!
Sam and Mike are two of the most joyful people I’ve ever met; these two are always smiling and laughing or making others smile. And what a joyful day this was with these two!
Sam is a wedding planner with Lemon & Lime Event Design, so it was a HUGE honor when she contacted me to photograph her wedding to Mike. And it was so incredible to see a wedding planner’s dream wedding come true! WOW! This was a BEAUTIFUL wedding! Sam’s spectacular Hayley Paige gown was absolutely perfect on her, and her amazing, lush Lucky Penny Floral bouquet complimented her look dreamily. Sam’s bridal party wore beautiful chiffon gowns in various shades and prints, and Mike’s groomsmen wore gray suits with beautiful blue shoes and Mike wore royal blue. Sam and Mike’s reception venue was gorgeous as well; the tables were draped with blush suede cloths and adorned with bright flowers and copper accents – with copper chairs flanking each table. It was impeccable! The Lemon & Lime team made sure that everything went smoothly throughout the day and, as always, they were fantastic to work with. Just wait until you see this wedding; it was GORGEOUS! Plus it was so much fun, the food was amazing (Rouge Catering is always incredible!), and Sam and Mike were SO happy!
Sam started the day by getting ready at the stunning Sagamore Pendry Hotel alongside the Baltimore harbor. Their suite couldn’t have been a better spot to prepare for a wedding day; there was so much space, light, and the prettiest details and decor (and an amazing bathroom! I’m pretty sure we were all ready to move into the Pendry!). Mike got ready at their home in Canton, and then everyone traveled to the Frederick Douglass Isaac Maritime Museum just down the street. These two shared their first look together as Sam walked down the aisle with her father and step-father, and it was such a touching moment!! Mike joked that he wouldn’t be able to keep himself from tearing up, and that was true for not just Mike but the wedding party, family, and friends (and photographers and wedding planners too!). It was just such a sweet, emotional moment, and everyone was so honored to be there celebrating these two.
After their sweet ceremony, we headed outdoors with their wedding party for some fun celebratory pictures! Between Lemon & Lime and us, we had tons of clear umbrellas, so everyone gathered under umbrellas for some fun pictures – and then braved the rain for some pictures without umbrellas! And Sam and Mike were such good sports about the rain. We got so many people portraits of these two – and through it all, even in the rain, they were always smiling at each other JSam and Mike’s wonderful pup, Natty, joined us for a few photos, and she was SO excited to celebrate with her parents! Afterward, we headed to the third floor porch for some fun pictures with the famous traveling Just Married Jacket Baltimore! Sam gets to join the group of women that have celebrated their special day wearing the leather calligraphed Just Married Jacket, which was inspired by the Toronto #TheJustMarriedJacket, and then the jacket is passed on to another bride. It is such a fun idea! #TheJustMarriedJacketBmore was created by Copper Stone + Co and it is gorgeous! After portraits, the fun began – Sam and Mike kicked off their wonderful reception. Instead of a formal wedding cake, these two converted the second space on the third floor of the venue into a huge dessert bar, with a build your own ice cream sundae bar and small plated deserts like creme brûlée and bread pudding. The evening was so much fun and the dance floor was packed all night! The celebration went late into the night – and continued at the after party just down the road after! These two had such a fun wedding!!
A little secret… after every single wedding, I come home, start uploading all of my images, and I choose a few pictures to edit. After every wedding, I always share a wedding day photo, but want to know how I choose the one I share? I edit my top three and send them to my mom! After every single wedding, my mother stays awake so she can evaluate my top three and choose her favorite! Well after I sent her my top three from Sam and Mike’s wedding she writes back and says, “I love them all! They are a REALLY cute couple!” And they are – Sam and Mike, you two are adorable! You may remember their SUPER cute Christmas tree farm engagement session last fall (so much fun!) that was full of smiles, sweet snuggles, and of course, Natty the pup! Even in the rain, these two were so joyful, happy, and ecstatic to be married. Just wait until you see these pictures!! You would NEVER believe it was raining other than the occasional raindrop sighting :) And not only were these two having so much fun, but their wedding party was full of smiles and laughter all day. It was such a fun day! My sister, Kelsey, second shot Sam and Mike’s wedding with me, and there was something pretty cool about this. Kelsey second shot for me for the very first time in May 2012 at the Frederick Douglass Isaac Maritime Museum – so now five years later, we got to work together at the same venue celebrating five years as a wedding photography team. I am so thankful to have her as my second shooter!
Sam and Mike, it has been such a joy and honor getting to know you two and celebrating your wedding with you both. I feel so thankful to call you two my friends now! You are such caring, sweet, and kind people, and I am so happy for you two. You’re a wonderful couple! Congratulations, Sam and Mike! Enjoy some favorites from your beautiful wedding day!!
