This weekend I was so excited to meet Shanna and Chris and their super-sweet Boston Terriers, Ellie and Cooper! Shanna’s father won the recent giveaway I offered through the Worthington Dog Park in Ellicott City, and since he lives in PA, his daughter and her husband got it. We met at Schooley Mill park after debating locations all week (which included a series of ridiculous pictures I took at a local park to demonstrate setting – Shanna definitely has blackmail on me now!). We settled on Schooley Mill because of the variety of locations, and after seeing how fast these two little dogs can run, I am glad we found a spot with lots of open space!
It was a COLD April morning when we met – and SO WINDY! Poor Cooper and Ellie don’t have much fur (or fat!) on them, and they were chilly little pups (and us people were freezing too!). But the day was beautiful – sunny, clear skies, and everything is just starting to bloom. Shanna and Chris were great sports, but I was SO impressed by Cooper and Ellie. My dogs would have been crazy – new people, other dogs, kids playing baseball, toys, and treats? There would have been no chance! But Cooper and Ellie mustered the strength to sit still and stare straight at… the treat their mom was holding! I wish we had a picture of the behind the scenes here: Shanna, Chris, and Justin, all holding a variety of treats, toys, leashes, and sunglasses above my head while I snapped away! But Cooper and Ellie really did a great job – they were such good sports, and they got their reward at the end – lots of fun zipping around the field together.
I had a great time getting to know Shanna and Chris – they were so much fun and we have so much in common (for one, we have basically all attended or worked at the same schools!), and it was so fun playing with and photographing their sweet dogs.
They are so polite! Shanna was trying to tell them to sit, but they were both so excited, they decided they would rather shake :)
